Research and Policy Analysis

Comparative policy analysis and market research on UK livestock farming, written by FarmHQ and grounded in named, publicly available sources. Not peer-reviewed academic work, and not marketing copy: industry analysis, with its scope and method stated plainly on every piece.

What this section is

Five papers on UK livestock farming policy and market structure: agricultural wage regulation across the four nations, the 2026-2028 regulatory convergence, the administrative burden on farms, technology adoption among older farmers, and the market structure of UK farm software. Each paper states its own method and sources in full, and none claims to be peer-reviewed research or original primary data collection unless it explicitly says so.

Why FarmHQ publishes research

Most of what FarmHQ writes is practical: a guide to a 27-day deadline, a calculator, a comparison of software. This section is different. It steps back from any single statutory rule to look at the underlying patterns, why UK agricultural wage law diverged after 2013, why three unrelated regulatory programmes happen to land on farms in the same three-year window, why the farm software market split the way it did, and writes that analysis up properly, with sources named and method disclosed, rather than folding it into marketing copy.

Every paper here is written by FarmHQ, not by an independent or peer-reviewing body, and each one says so plainly rather than implying otherwise. Where a paper draws on FarmHQ's own data, such as our engagement work with prospective farmers, that is stated explicitly and kept separate from third-party survey evidence.
